ABOUT YVONNE CHAPMAN (Studio Founder & Instructor)

 

 

Yvonne Chapman is a  Canadian actor, producer and director.  As an actor, she is a seasoned performer and has worked with major production houses such as CBC, Nickelodeon, 20th Century Fox, The CW, Hallmark, Julius  R. Nasso Productions, ABC, and Bright Lights and fully understands the demands placed on actors to perform on set and in the audition room. She is best known for her role as a series lead on CBC's STREET LEGAL.  She has also been featured as a lead actress in a number of films that have been showcased and awarded in prominent film festivals such as Cannes, Los Angeles Independent Film Festival, and the National Film Festival for Talented Youth. As a producer and director, Yvonne is connected with a number of feature and short films currently in development by independent film houses based in both Canada and the US.

 

These experiences has allowed her to be a valuable and sought out coach to many actors looking for guidance for audition prep, set prep, and the study of the craft.

David has been a respected coach and teacher of dialects and accents since 1998 through his company DialAct Inc, having taught at almost every college and university in Alberta. He has been the dialect coach on many theatrical productions and made in Alberta films and TV series such as PAPA’S ANGELS, JOHNSON COUNTY WAR, THE DEATH AND LIFE OF NANCY EATON, LIES MY MOTHER TOLD ME, INTO THE WEST, BROKEN TRAIL, TIN STAR, coaching Academy Award winner Eva Marie Saint, Jessica Pare, Rachel Ward, Emmy winner Cynthia Nixon, Oscar winner Brenda Fricker, Matthew Modine, Golden Globe winner Kerri Russel, Skeet Ulrich, Joely Richardson, Greta Scacchi (performance nominated for an Emmy), Clair Forlani, Jacqueline Bisset, Ted Danson, Nick Offerman, Jesse Plemons, Kirsten Dunst, Michael Stuhlbarg and many others. 


David specializes in modern, non-regional, informal, relaxed, conversational American speech
for Canadian actors offering a 4 hour seminar on what is commonly known as “standard American dialect” and pronunciation which he has conducted for hundreds of actors from Calgary to Toronto.
